Synopsis

A grown man discovers that his uncle is actually his real father. The revealed family secret makes his life foundations shake: He no longer knows who to believe, and he is not even sure about who he is. Looking for certainties, he reaches a molecular biology laboratory, the main stage of this series, where he discovers incontrovertible truths in the information provided by the DNA pattern. But he will also know that identity is more complex than a genetic code and nothing of what we are is independent of our life story , affections , interaction with others.

This tension between what science reveals as irrefutable truth and the randomness of human experience, will develop Carmen and Elena’s story, a biologist and a lawyer, two sisters who run the laboratory inherited from his father and his mother, good reputation scientists collaborating on a research that managed to establish the “grandparent age index ” promoted by “Plaza de Mayo Grandmothers” on finding their appropriate grandchildren and granddaughters.

These two women who grew up during the last military dictatorship that, as part of his generation have witnessed the extraordinary changes that have occurred in recent decades in terms of communication, scientific and relational, will be those looking for possible answers stories that will be introduced, chapter by chapter, in the laboratory.

The variety of conflicts that could be resolved by determining DNA patterns will allow this series to visit over 13 different episodes genres: drama, comedy, police, melodrama, reconstruction historical; and life itself is traversed by these instances. This lab also lives its own problems. The relationship between the sisters, who will also be crossed by an identity conflict that will be resolved at the end, is torn between the rules of capitalism that are imposed to be able to sustain the lab and make them include “cosmetic” services that could offer the determination of a particular genetic code: like discovering an ideal diet for each metabolism-and the intention of putting scientific knowledge at the service of justice, of linkages and welfare of people wellbeing.

Each chapter presents a case to be resolved, and will work as a mirror of these sisters personal and family researches that will also compromise the identity: sexuality, political commitment, motherhood and profession.

For the generation born during the dark years of the military dictatorship, identity doubt itself is not a fantasy but the product of a systematic plan that sought to precisely change the identity of an entire country. But it was in search of truth and recovery of history itself that exceeds the genetic bond that the right to an identity became a human right for the entire world. The value of the identity and complex plot that weaves is the background of this fiction series challenges us one way or another.
